Lawndale Historical Society
Metcalfe Station

Metcalfe Station is a project of the Lawndale Historical Museum. From 1899 to 1943, this structure served as the stop between Lawndale and Shelby for the narrow gauge railroad that connected Cleveland Mills to the major railways. In the station's later years, it was serviced with Texaco gasoline to supply gas for the automobiles that were becoming more popular. A group of volunteers refurbished the station and an original railroad boxcar. Metcalfe Station was opened to the public in 2001. Visitors can pump gas from a visible pump and tour the inside of the depot. Metcalfe Station is open regular hours June through October and by appointment.
