Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina
Mitchell House Museum

Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina is a statewide nonprofit organization that reaches out to children and families in crisis with a mission of "helping hurting children...healing broken families". Established in 1885 as the Baptist Orphanage, Mills Home in Thomasville is BCH's oldest and largest campus. Alumni of Mills Home have restored the Mitchell House residence hall, the oldest building on the Mills Home campus, to create a museum honoring the history of the Children's Homes. Artifacts and photographs from early days at Mills Home tell the story of the children who made a home here and of the caregivers who nurtured them. The museum is open for tours by appointment.
