Old Mill of Guilford
The Old Mill of Guilford, which is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, was founded in North Carolina on Beaver Creek in 1767 by Daniel Dillon to grind grain for the early settlers of what is now Guilford County. The Earl of Granville granted Dillon the 552-acre tract in 1755 and Rowan County licensed him to build the mill in 1764. It was moved to its current location in 1819, where it continues to produce all-natural, stone-ground, whole grain foods, just as it has for over 250 years. Although this is a working grist mill and not a collecting or interpreting agency, the current owners are knowledgeable about the history of their mill, the Dillon Family, and the history of grist mills in North Carolina and welcome visitors during hours of operation.

Greensboro City Beautiful
David Caldwell Historic Park

The David Caldwell Historic Park's mission is to educate visitors about David and Rachel Caldwell's lives and work and David Caldwell's legacy as an educator, minister, and statesman within the larger picture of everyday life in 18th century Guilford County, North Carolina. Cadlwell moved to Guilford County in 1765 and died here in 1824. He served the community as the minister of Buffalo Presbyterian and Alamance Presbyterian churches, as a physician, and as founder of "Log College," which educated many prominent men of the day. Caldwell's home and school were in the area adjacent to Tanger Family Bicentennial Gardens, with the David Caldwell Historic Park situated on a 550-acre farm. Archaeological investigations have found evidence of the foundations of the original Caldwell house. Stones now mark the foundation boundaries of the cellar, and investigations continue on-site to determine other features on the Caldwell's land.

Betty H. Carter Women Veterans Historical Project

The Betty H. Carter Women Veterans Historical Project (WVHP), established at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in 1998, documents the contributions of women in the military and related service organizations since World War I. The collection offers a wide range of source material, including photographs, letters, diaries, scrapbooks, oral histories, military patches and insignia, uniforms, and posters, as well as published works. Through active acquisition and educational outreach the project continues to expand its research collection and to explore the cultural, social, and military changes in American society that were fueled by the gender integration of the armed forces.
