The Mountain Heritage Center celebrates the natural and cultural heritage of the southern Appalachian region. Through artifacts and interpretive exhibits, educational programs, and demonstrations, the center promotes the rich traditions of the mountains. Visitors will see the Appalachian region interpreted from new perspectives and come away with an understanding of its land, culture, and people.

Southwestern Community College North Carolina Collection

The North Carolina Collection in the Learning Resources Center at Southwestern Community College includes writing by North Carolina authors; literature about North Carolina; vertical files on the history of the college, the southern Appalachians, and the state in general; a collection of college photographs; microfilmed Jackson and Swain County records from the State Archives' core collection; microfilmed local newspapers; microfilmed SCC Board of Trustees records; and complete runs of all college catalogs and yearbooks.

Cashiers Historical Society
Zachary-Tolbert House

The Cashiers Historical Society preserves and interprets the Zachary-Tolbert House. The eight-room Greek Revival home was built in the mid 1800's and was never modernized making it a pristine example of a rural antebellum Southern home. Featuring furniture made by the builder of the home, Mordecai Zachary, the house opens during the summer season for tours and special events.
