Nash County Historical Association
Stonewall

Stonewall is an outstanding example of late Federal architecture in North Carolina. The Nash County Historical Association operates this three-story brick manor home and its grounds. Built around 1830 by Bennett Bunn, Stonewall has been restored and is open to the public the second Sunday of every month from 2:00pm-4:30pm. Stonewall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and group tours are available by appointment. The house is also available on a fee basis for meetings, weddings, receptions and other private events.

Rocky Mount Children's Museum
The Rocky Mount Children's Museum, a Division of the City of Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department, provides an educational program for young people by interpreting and exhibiting significant objects and enriching their lives through the development of proper attitudes through creative outlets. An emphasis is placed on providing children with "hands on" experiences of the latest technological advances possible as well as giving them an understanding of the history that led us to these advances. Permanent holdings include the Bishop Collection of miniature circus wagons made in the 1940's and a large collection of model trains from the 1930's, the Battle Collection.

Country Doctor Museum
The Country Doctor Museum is dedicated to preserving the heritage of physicians who practiced medicine in rural American during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum collects and exhibits the medical instruments and tools of pharmacy used by country doctors, and features a century-old building with an apothecary room, a medicinial herb garden, a display on the art of nursing, a carriage house displaying an array of doctors' carriages and early automobiles, and a museum gift shop.

Spring Hope Historical Association
Spring Hope Historical Museum

The Spring Hope Historical Museum is dedicated to the premise that a preservation of the past is a true legacy for generations to come. It is the only history museum in Nash County and includes a permanent collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents, and seasonally features special temporary exhibits incorporating items from the local community. The Spring Hope Historical Museum seeks to present a comprehensive history of the Spring Hope area, its diverse population and rich heritage.

North Carolina Wesleyan College
Elizabeth Braswell Pearsall Library, Special Collections

Special Collections at North Carolina Wesleyan College's Pearsall Library consist primarily of the College Archives, Rare Books and Manuscripts from the Black Mountain College Library, a collection of manuscripts and material culture from Littleton College, a collection of North Carolina maps, and various other items including a large commemorative spoon collection.

Rocky Mount Arts Center
The Rocky Mount Art Center, a Division of the City of Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department, provides the community a place to study, create, perform and exhibit. The Center houses a permanent collection of visual art, part of which is displayed most of the year, and also hosts a number of juried and competitive art shows, a community theater, and a variety of educational programs for children and adults in the visual and performing arts.

North Carolina Wesleyan College
Four Sisters Gallery: Celebrating the Art of the Coastal Plain

The Four Sisters Gallery is dedicated to the collection, conservation, and interpretation of regional Coastal Plain culture of contemporary visionary and self-taught art as well as historical North and South American artifacts. The Gallery serves the College, the Coastal Plain community, and the American international art community through exhibitions, loans, publications, and educational outreach in an effort to increase the awareness of the significance of such art as creative expression and the potential it has as a cultural record of our region. The Gallery was established in 1994 to preserve the Robert Lynch Collection of Outsider Art and the College's collection of pre-Columbian and historic Native American objects. In addition to these collections, the Gallery owns a significant collection of self-taught art from 1951 to the present.
