Randolph County Public Library
Randolph Room

The Randolph Room is located on the first floor of the Asheboro Public Library, and includes a collection of manuscripts and papers, published material, maps, photographs, and ephemera fundamental to the study of genealogy and local history for Randolph County. The collection is non-circulating because of the subjects and types of material it contains; however, patrons are welcome to visit and use materials in-house. Resources are available in many formats including print, microfilm, and computer media. Also of interest is a large collection of bird sculptures by local artist Clarence Lewallen and the original Civil War flag of the Randolph Hornets.

North Carolina Aviation Museum and Hall of Fame
The North Carolina Aviation Museum began as a dream of local Asheboro businessman Jim Peddycord who had an interest in flying and the collection of old military aircraft. In 1994, Peddycord started the Foundation for Aircraft Conservation, which ultimately became the North Carolina Aviation Museum. The museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to the history and preservation of the wonderful world of flight. The facility houses more than a dozen authentically restored (and in many cases working) airplanes dating from before World War II through the Vietnam era. The NCAM also has a large collection of authentic military uniforms, medals, and memorabilia housed in two hangers and on display for public viewing.
