Herman West, benefactor of the Cherokee County Historical Museum. Mr. West bought the contents of the Palmer Museum, owned and operated by Arthur Palmer in Marble, NC, and in 1977 gave the entire collection for this museum.

Mr. Arthur Palmer, owner and operator of the Palmer Museum in Marble. The collection of the Cherokee County Historical Museum is built upon the original Palmer collection which was purchased by Mr. Herman West and donate to the museum in 1977.
